Wilmslow Turns Out for Annual Christmas Lights Switch-On    December 2, 2015

On Saturday 28th November, despite a disappointing weather forecast, the crowds still turned out to see the Christmas lights being switched-on.

For the first time the day featured a festive Christmas Artisan Market at the Library Gardens.  Reindeer from the Cairngorm Reindeer Company arrived at 2pm and were on public view until they pulled Santa's sleigh at 4pm.  Joining Santa on his sleigh were two children from St Anne's Fulshaw CofE Primary School, Oliver aged 7 and Summer aged 5.  Both were winners in the school's Christmas drawing competition.

Santa's sleigh travelled past the shops on Alderley Road before making its way down Grove Street where it parked up on Grove Avenue.  The Reindeer remained in their pen on Grove Avenue until around 5.30pm.

Keeping the crowds entertained at Bank Square compere Erik Garner introduced performances by Wilmslow Rock Choir, Wilmslow High School Choir and St Anne's Fulshaw CofE Choir.  Santa made his way to the stage where he was joined by Simon Gregson and his Son Harry who, along with Oliver and Summer all turned on this year's Wilmslow Christmas lights.
