Dirty Dancing to headline at Cinema on the Carrs    February 9, 2017

Dirty Dancing tops the poll

The Cinema on the Carrs Generates Record Levels of Interest.

Following the decision to extend the hugely successful Cinema in the Carrs concept for 2017, the initial response has demonstrated significant public support.

On the announcement that the award winning event would now include a Matinee Film and family fun afternoon in support of the main feature in the evening, the public were asked to vote for their chosen films on the Cinema on the Carrs facebook page.

Well in excess of 700 votes were cast for the short-listed films with ‘The Lion King’ narrowly winning the vote for the afternoon film receiving over a third of the votes and ‘Dirty Dancing’ (12A) coming out a clear winner for the evening film demonstrating its on-going popularity in its 30th anniversary year, receiving well over half of the votes cast.

Cllr Angela McPake, Chairman of the Wilmslow Town Council Events Group said, “ Wilmslow Town Council are delighted that our flagship summer event continues to generate such interest and enthusiasm. By providing this free to attend event Wilmslow Town Council hope that the community will assemble in record numbers and enjoy both the main evening feature and the new afternoon concept. If the number of residents voting is anything to go by then it should be a great day.”

The event which takes place on the Carrs on Saturday 10 June is funded and organised by Wilmslow Town Council will this year also provide a great launch pad for  ‘Wilmslow Rocks’ a new event organised by the Wilmslow Business Events team that will run from 10 – 17 June bringing live music in to the centre of Wilmlsow. June is looking to be a great month for entertainment in Wilmslow.
